NRC80 overview & logistics
Here is a recording of the NRC80 labs introductory webinar.
Getting started
The NRC-80 Labs are a series of four 15-hour hands-on self-guided nuclear medicine labs per year, designed to inspire you to discover the principles of safe and effective nuclear medicine through experiment.
You should have time to complete the NRC-80 labs your nuclear medicine rotation.
Work under the supervision of an authorized user (AU) attending or authorized radiopharmacist. Working under the supervision of an authorize user (AU) is also a NRC training requirement.
Have a nuclear medicine technologist or radiopharmacist watch over you closely. You're going to be handling radioactive materials or completing special procedures, in some cases for the first time, and it's vital that you get supervision so that you're not permanently injured.
Download and complete the lab's worksheet (see "Worksheet" under each online lab). Use the worksheet to gather data, reflect on trends, and discover implications for safety and quality in your daily practice.
Have your designated authorized user (AU) attending in your program review and sign your worksheet. This is part of the documentation that your AU attending was supervising your hands-on training and experience, as required by the NRC.
Upload your completed, signed worksheet. Use the upload link in the online module for the lab you've completed. Ensure the document is legible, professionally written, and signed by your AU and you. This is your documentation for ACGME and NRC audits.
Accessing your labs
You can access the labs from your Student Dashboard. Ask your program coordinator for your registration code if you don't see your labs there.
