What is the 80 Hour Requirement?
The NRC80 Labs together with the Foundational Review and Final Review satisfy the 80 hour requirement from the ACGME and Nuclear Regulatory Commission for all radiology residents. During those 80 hours, you'll need to learn specific curriculum components related to radiation safety, radiopharmacy, and radiobiology.
How do I finish the first 60 hours?
To meet your NRC80 requirements using the NRC80 Labs, follow these steps:
Find out the name of your authorized user (AU) nuclear medicine attending. This attending will be signing off on your NRC80 paperwork.
Claim 15 hours for each NRC80 Lab. Each lab will need a fully completed worksheet with the cover page signed and dated by you and your AU attending. There are four labs, so this adds up to 60 out of the 80 required hours.
How do I finish the last 20 hours?
Complete your Foundational Review to claim 15 more hours. Download your completion certificate for the Foundational Review from your course page when you finish it.
βComplete your Final Review to claim 5 more hours. Download your completion certificate for the Final Review from your course page when you finish it.
What are my remaining requirements to get AU status?
Finish 4.5 months of nuclear medicine rotation. This is where you hit the 700 total hours of training and experience in nuclear imaging.
Complete your required I-131 treatments. These include both low dose and high dose administrations.
Pass the Core and Certifying Exams. Pass the nuclear safety related questions (from the old RISE Exam) on the ABR Core and Certifying Exams.
Receive your final NRC training letter from your AU attending. Receive a final signed letter from your AU nuclear medicine attending certifying that you've completed the required training for AU status.
IMPORTANT
Download the certificate from your completion email and keep a copy in your personal records.
If you cannot locate your certificate, take a screenshot of your Student Dashboard showing 100% course completion as alternative evidence.
